Days of Our Lives (DOOL)

Days of Our Lives is a newsletter which went to print in 1996 with a circulation of 80 women. There was no budget for printing and postage, so the first few issues were photocopies and hand delivered!

Ten years later we have a circulation of 2000 including women from all over Australia. We fund the printing and postage and cover office costs with sponsorhips, advertisements, inserts and the optional membership fee of $15 per Jewish year.

The title of our newsletter comes from the fact that for women, the days of our lives are packed with many common concerns. Our newsletter is about sharing ideas and knowledge to help each other through these challenges.

We have had several regular columns (Handy Hints, Law of the Land, a medical column, recipes, the Letter from Lori in Jerusalm and more) as well as various series and stories of inspiration. In addition, we are a forum for local news and information about resources. We often have campaigns to raise money for worthy causes, such as the Sydney Mikveh Society.

Membership supports our newsletter's printing and postage and also subsidises the other activities. Please send yearly membership of AUD $15 along with your name, address, phone numbers, profession and whether we may call upon you if doing a seminar in your field, husband's name and profession and whether we may call upon him if doing a seminar in his field. Subscriptions run from the new Jewish year in Tishrey (~October) to Tishrey.

If you are a bride or know a bride, you or she is entitled to a free Bridal year. It is a good way to link up to the local Jewish community.
